         Step to convert Physical Standby to Snapshot Standby


Standby Name: Orcldrr
Production Name: Orcl

Steps on Standby Side
================

$ sqlplus / as sysdba

SQL> set lines 100

SQL> select DB_UNIQUE_NAME, OPEN_MODE, DATABASE_ROLE,flashback_on from v$database;

DB_UNIQUE_NAME                 OPEN_MODE            DATABASE_ROLE    FLASHBACK_ON
------------------------------ -------------------- ---------------- -------------
orcldrr                       MOUNTED              PHYSICAL STANDBY NO

SQL> alter system set db_recovery_file_dest='/oradata2/DR/orcldrr/flash';

SQL> alter system set db_recovery_file_dest_size=8g;

SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;

SQL> alter database flashback on;

SQL> ALTER DATABASE CONVERT TO SNAPSHOT STANDBY;

Steps on Orcl Production Side
======================

SQL > alter system set log_archive_dest_state_3='ENABLE' scope=both sid='*';

Steps on Orcldrr Standby Side
=====================

SQL> shut immediate;

SQL> startup;

SQL > select DB_UNIQUE_NAME, OPEN_MODE, DATABASE_ROLE,flashback_on from v$database;

DB_UNIQUE_NAME                 OPEN_MODE            DATABASE_ROLE    FLASHBACK_ON
